Stage 14 Breakdown:

Stage 14 bring the riders on a 182km mountainous journey from Pau to Luchon-Superbagnéres. The stage contain one 2nd, one 1st, and two HC category mountains, totalling almost 5000m in elevation gain. With the famous Col du Tourmalet included the mix, it makes for one of the toughest stages in this Tour.

The first climb of the day is the Col du Tourmalet, a 19km climb with an average gradient of 7.4%. The next two is Col d’Aspin with 5km of 7.6% and Col de Peyresourde with 7.1km of 7.8%. The final climb up to the finish line at Luchon-Superbagnéres is 12.4km has an average gradient of 7.3% with sections over just 10%.

This is a crucial stage for the GC contenders, a tough profile which could easily turn seconds into minutes in the classification. It will be interesting to see how the different teams handle the long climbs
