Stage 14

Stage 14 Breakdown:

Stage 14 takes the riders on a mountainous 182.6km journey from Nantua to Morzine. The Tour heads into the Alps with one of the toughest stages of the race, featuring over 4500m of climbing. With several legendary climbs and a summit just over 30 kilometres from the finish, this is a stage where the GC contenders are expected to battle for victory.

The riders face the Col de la Ramaz and the Col de Joux Plane, one of the most demanding climbs in the Alps at 11.6km with an average gradient of 8.5%. The summit comes 31 kilometres from the finish, followed by a fast and technical descent into Morzine. Any rider hoping to make a difference will need to attack on Joux Plane, as the descent offers little opportunity to regain lost time.

This is a stage that could produce significant time gaps in the general classification. The pace is expected to be high from the start, and while a strong breakaway may have a chance, the GC teams are likely to fight all the way to the finish.
