Stage 12

Stage 12 Breakdown:

Stage 12 bring the riders on a 180km journey from Auch to Hautacam, for their first mountain finish of the Tour. The stage contain one 4th, one 2nd, one 1st and one HC category climb with a total elevation gain of 3850m. 

The 1st category climb up Col du Soulor is 11.8km long and has an average gradient of 7.3%. They reach the summit with 36km still to go. The final climb up to the finish at Hautacam is 13.5km with an average gradient of 7.8%. Hautacam is located at an elevation of 1520m and will be the first mountain finish of this Tour.

It should be interesting to see if the GC favorites will try to test each other on this finale or if they will wait until later on in the Tour. The decision of GC riders to put on the pressure or not will likely determine the chances that the breakaway has for any potential stage win.

TourManager:
Etappe 12 er årets første skikkelige fjelletappe med avslutning på toppen av et fjell. Det er flere høye kategoriserte stigninger, som betyr mange poeng å hente i klatrekonkurransen og i TourManager. Det kommer an på hvor hardt det blir kjørt blant sammenlagtfavorittene, om et potensielt brudd kan holde inn og være først over det siste fjellet. Men uansett om et brudd skulle bli hentet eller ei, er det mange poeng som skal deles ut her.
