Stage 11

Stage 11 Breakdown:

Stage 11 starts off from Clermont-Ferrand, a city in central France not far from Puy de Dôme, the finish of Stage 9. It is one of the oldest city in France, and most famously features a statue of Vercingetorix, the man who united the gauls in their last stand against Julius Caesar before the Romans conquerd Gaul (present day France).

The stage take the riders on a somewhat flat 180km journey from Clermont-Ferrand to Moulins. It contains three 4th category climbs, though the final one is passed with more than 60km to go. The final kilometres take place in the city of Moulins and is both flat and straight forward. After crossing a bridge they have a 90 degree corner at the 2km mark, followed by a couple bends with about 1.5km to go. The final kilometre is straight forward and will likely suit the fast sprinters.

This is the final proper flat stage before the riders enter the mountains, so many sprint teams will likely look to take advantage of this opportunity. Next flat stage won’t be until Stage 19.

Favorites:

Tour Manager:
