Stage 9

Stage 9 Breakdown:

Stage 9 starts in Troyes and ends in Troyes, but in between the riders are faced with 199km of hills and gravel roads. Overall a tough day for the riders, but the main challenge will be 14 segments of gravel roads covering a total distance of over 32km. The last section of gravel road is 3000m long and will be encountered with about 10km to go.

After the last gravel road, a flat sprint to the finish back at Troyes awaits. There are multiple scenarios that can play out this stage. A breakaway can be successful, or there could be a sprint from a small group remaining from the peloton. The stage suit a strong puncheur rider, the likes of Mathieu v.d. Poel and Wout van Aert. Following this stage the first rest day awaits the riders, a welcomed sight for many after a tough opening week of the tour.

Etappe 9 er en fascinerende etappe. 199km med kupert terreng inkludert 14 gruspartier venter rytterne, i en løype som både starter og slutter i Troyes. Sterke puncheur ryttere regnes som favoritter, men også de med erfaring fra grusløp i italia vil stille sterkt her. Dette er også siste dag før første innlagte hviledag, så det er nok mange ryttere som kan gi det siste de har før hviledagen. Når det er sagt så er det nok også mange ryttere med slitne ben etter en hard åpningsuke.
