Quick & Reliable Predictions
Stage 8 Breakdown:
Stage 8 takes the riders on a another flat 180.4km journey from Périgueux to Bergerac. After yesterdays sprint, the fast men get another great chance to fight for the stage win. The route includes just over 1100 metres of climbing, but the two categorized climbs are not difficult enough to stop the sprinters if their teams control the race.
The stage heads through the rolling roads of the Dordogne region before reaching the Côte de Domme and Côte du Buisson-de-Cadouin. Both climbs come well before the finish, and the final 40 kilometres are almost completely flat. The run into Bergerac is fast and straightforward, giving the sprint teams plenty of time to organize their lead-outs for a fast finish.
This should be another day where the sprint teams take control from the start. A breakaway will likely get some freedom early on, but with valuable points available in the green jersey competition, it will be difficult for them to stay away. Unless crosswinds or crashes change the race, everything points towards another bunch sprint.
