Stage 10

Stage 10 Breakdown:

Stage 10 bring the riders on a mountainous 166.6km journey from Aurillac to Le Lioran. After the first rest day, the Tour returns with an explosive Bastille Day stage through the Massif Central. With around 3900m of climbing, this is another major test for the GC contenders, although the punchy climbs also make it a great opportunity for a strong breakaway.

The first half of the stage is relatively straightforward before a relentless finale over the Puy Mary (Pas de Peyrol), the steep Col de Pertus, and the Col de Font de Cère. The final climb crests less than 3 kilometres from the finish, before a fast run into Le Lioran with a slight uphill drag to the line. The repeated climbs and short descents should encourage aggressive racing throughout the finale.

UAE Team Emirates will likely keep the race under control, but the steep slopes of the Col de Pertus are perfectly suited to late attacks from the GC favorites. If the breakaway gains enough time early, they could still fight for the stage win, but this looks like a day where the strongest climbers are expected to shine.

Favorites:
| +++ | Tadej Pogačar, Isaac del Toro, Richard Carapaz
| ++ | Jonas Vingegaard, Remco Evenepoel, Tobias H. Johannessen
| + | Tom Pidcock, Paul Seixas, Ben Healy
