Stage 6 Breakdown:

Stage 6 take the riders on a short but mountainous journey from Tarbes to Cauterets-Cambasque. Despite only having a length of 145km, it is likely to be a brutal day with high speed for the riders. The highlight today will be the climb up the iconic Col du Tourmalet, with its never-ending 17.1km climb. The average climb gradient of 7.3% is skewed due to the inital low incline the first 5km, the remaining 12km however has a gradient of 8-10%.

In addition to Col du Tourmalet, the riders face one 3rd category climb and two 1st category climbs, including the final climb to the finish line. The final climb up Cauterets-Cambasque is 16km long with an average gradient of 5.4%. This is the first stage of the tour with a mountain finish, and will likely be the first real test for the general classification riders.

Tour Manager:
Etappe 6 inneholder mange høydemeter tross sin korte distanse. Det er første etappe med avslutning på toppen av et fjell, og trolig den første skikkelige testen for sammenlagtrytterne. Som forrige etappe er det mange poeng å hente, både på innlagte bakketopper og ved mållinjen. Dersom du ikke allerede har noen av rytterne som kjemper om klatretrøyen, eller sammenlagtfavoritter som kan hevde seg på slutten av etappen, kan det være lurt å få inn noen nå.
