Stage 17

Stage 17 Breakdown:

Stage 17, riders are facing the hardest stage of the Tour, with a mountainous 165km journey from Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc to Courchevel. This monster of a stage contains one 2nd category, two 1st category and one HC category climbs, with thousands of meters in elevation gain and an incredible finish up the Courchevel airport.

The final climb up Col de la Loze is 28km long and has an average gradient of 6%. The last 5km of the climb is all around the double digits, with a section reaching an astounding 24%(!). The peak is reached at 2304m amsl, before the riders descent the final 7km down to Courchevel. The stage finale is very interesting, as the last 600m to the finish line takes place at the Courchevel airport, known for being one of the most extreme airports in the world, having an incline of up to 18%.

This is the second last mountain stage of the Tour and expected to be the last chance for riders to take significant time on their rivals. It’s possible that both title and podium is settled after this stage, it’s simply a stage you cannot miss!

Tour Manager:
