Stage 17 Breakdown:
Stage 17 is a pause from the mountains with a relative flat 160km trip from Bolléne to Valence. The stage contain only two 4th category climbs, and the last one is completed with 43km still to go. Given that it’s one of the last flat stages of the tour, it is expected that the sprint teams will keep the pace high in the peloton to secure a bunch sprint.
The final kilometres are fairly technical and takes place within the town of Valence. There are 4 roundabouts between 4km and 2km to go, followed by a 90 degree corner about 600-700m before the finish line. It will be important for the teams to position themselves well ahead of both the roundabouts and the 90 degree corner. Should be an interesting finale!
