Stage 6
Stage 6 Breakdown:
Stage 6 take the riders on another hilly journey, this time a 201km trip from Bayeux to Vire Normandie. The routing bring the riders across five 3rd category climbs and one 4th category climb totaling just over 3500m of elevation gain.
After a shorter time trial the day before, many riders will likely have somewhat rested legs for today’s stage. A total of 16 points for the KOM will be distributed on this stage which will be on the mind of quite a few riders and teams. This early in the Tour there are good chances to collect the Polkadot jersey, providing a strong incentive for teams to get their riders into a breakaway on this stage.
The last kilometres toward the finish line in Vira Normandie is hilly with a final short but steep climb up to Avenue d’Atlacomulco. The final climb might only be 700m but has an average gradient of 10.2% with sections up to 14%! This should be enough to separate the strong from the weak and if a breakaway doesn’t make it, it could provide us with a rematch of the battle between Mathieu van der Poel and Tadej Pogacar from stage 2.

Etappe 6 er en ny kupert etappe på drøyt 200km med avslutning på en høyde i Vire Normandie. Nok en gang er typiske puncheur ryttere som Mathieu v.d. Poel og Wout van Aert blant favorittene til etappen. Det kan være lurt å beholde disse rytter typene de frem til etappe 9 etappe, hvor vi kommer inn i tøffere fjell. På dette tidspunktet kan man justere laget og flytte budsjettet ut av spurtere/puncheurs og inn i klatrere og sammenlagtryttere.
Dette er også en etappe hvor man ikke kan utelukke at et brudd går inn. Mange lag vil være interessert i klatrepoengene for å overta klatretrøyen og dersom et stort nok brudd kommer avgårde skal man ikke se bort ifra at det kan gå inn. Ønsker man å ta litt risiko kan man bruke noen bytter på outsidere i klatrekonkurransen og satse på at bruddet går inn.
